Clooney adds value to the Mid Nordic Region!

A Swedish scientist, following the Mid Nordic Film Commissions work, has come to the conclusion that the film commissions work and the films that have been attracted to the in the three recent years, has given fantastic marketing value to the region. The two mayor films, “The American” (by Anton Corbijn, starring George Clooney) and “Home for Christmas” (by Bent Hamer) have put the region on the world map as a good place to produce films.

The Film Commission project ends June 1st 2011. In Østersund, the local tourism office are now working to find a way to continue the Mid Nordic Film Commission on a more permanent basis. They also want to build on to their film infrastructure by creating a regional film fund for the Jämtland region. An investment fund already exists on the Norwegian side of the region.
